Speed Watchdog Alerts

Not everyone checks speed measurement tools as often as they should. We get that—and our experience with speed optimization consulting confirms it. (speed optimization consulting)

During the design of Speed Watchdog we kept this in mind, and our goal was to ensure you’d ideally visit the Speed Tester app only when you’re addressing a specific issue.

🔐 The Watchdog and notification settings are available only in Monitoring PLUS.

Accurately configured notifications and their evaluation are central to the Performance Budgets concept and the foundation of keeping your site fast.

Speed Watchdog therefore offers several passive ways to stay informed about issues or improvements.

Email notifications from the Watchdog report Heads up—speed changes detected. Please take a closer look.

Watchdog alerts are sent both when something goes wrong (1) and when we have good news to share (2).

Each notification also includes guidance on how to interpret this information. How to evaluate this information.

Email Notifications

Email alerts from Speed Watchdog are sent to every team member.

You can disable them with a single click from the incoming email or in Email Settings.

Slack and Teams Notifications

Slack and Teams alerts are ideal if you already rely on these tools for internal communication.

Slack/Teams notifications Deliver important updates—and good news—directly to Slack.

To configure Slack and Teams alerts correctly, follow these steps:

  1. If you’re the account administrator, open the specific test.
  2. Click the [Settings] tab. (/docs/settings)
  3. Create a new channel in Slack or a chat in Teams.
  4. Name the channel to reflect the context (e.g., your company name or the destination channel).
  5. Create a Slack or Teams webhook. Follow the Slack guide or the Teams guide.
  6. If you need alerts in multiple channels, click “+” to add as many as you need.
